Blenheim Palace

As a photographer and keen walker I make the most of the good weather. Despite thunderstorms being forecast I travelled to Blenheim Palace in Woodstock on 31st July for a walk around the estate. There is restoration work being carried out on the roof with lots of scaffolding being erected to facilitate this. However, it provides an opportunity for visitors to gain access to the roof, all of 109 steps up to be eyeball to eyeball with some of the statues. I believe this is only until 2026 when the work should have been completed so if you are planning to visit Blenheim then you have a limited chance to follow in my footsteps.

Blenheim Palace

It was a sunny afternoon today, a vast change from the rain of yesterday. On the spur of the moment I decided to drive down to Woodstock and have a walk around the Blenheim Palace estate – we have annual passes so we can visit any time we like.

Here are three photos from my visit.

On 15 April I had a day out and returned to the Malvern Hills as I had not been there for some years.

This time I started by walking up to the Worcestershire Beacon and North Hill before returning to the car and moving it to another car park before climbing up to British Camp and the Herefordshire Beacon.

The black and white image was created in Tonality an app which has numerous presets for monochrome imagery.

2021 Posts

I realise that I have been remiss and have not posted anything for a couple of months. We are now into March so hopefully spring is around the corner. We have had a relatively mild winter with very little snow compared with other parts of the country. Let’s hope that is all we are going to get.

Here are a couple of photos from the modest snowfall we have had.

Garden Work

We have had a busy two days. Last week we had a delivery of bedding plants from Yarnton Garden Centre. They have now reopened and I went down on Sunday to buy more bedding plants. We have now potted them all up and these photos show some of our efforts. There are still more plants to come that we ordered online so we are not quite finished yet. Hopefully they will be with us in the next week or so. Then we can enjoy the garden save for grass cutting and the weeding which seems to be never ending at this time of year.

This post makes a change from the doom and gloom of our “lock down” experiences!
